What the numbers show

Proportion of pupils enrolled in primary education who are at least 2 years over-age for their current grade, adjusted location parity index (household survey data) (LPIA) is currently reported for 40 countries. The highest value is 1.72 LPIA in Zimbabwe; the lowest is 0.7021 LPIA in Uruguay.

The median across all reporting countries is 1.34 LPIA, and the mean is 1.29 LPIA.

The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 2.

Over the past decade 16 countries rose and 24 fell. The largest increase was in Niger (up 33.2%), and the largest decrease in Jordan (down 40.3%).
