What the numbers show

Proportion of students at the end of lower secondary education achieving at least a minimum proficiency level in mathematics, spoke the language of the test at home, both sexes (%) is currently reported for 56 countries. The highest value is 92.5% in Japan; the lowest is 14.1% in Kuwait.

The median across all reporting countries is 68.8%, and the mean is 59.0%.

The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 7.

Over the past decade 10 countries rose and 46 fell. The largest increase was in Qatar (up 142.3%), and the largest decrease in Jordan (down 44.4%).
