What the numbers show

Percentage of pupils enrolled in primary education who are at least 2 years over-age for their current grade, poorest quintile, both sexes (household survey data) (%) is currently reported for 27 countries. The highest value is 68.6% in Ghana; the lowest is 1.7% in Chile.

The median across all reporting countries is 15.1%, and the mean is 23.1%.

The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 40.

Over the past decade 7 countries rose and 20 fell. The largest increase was in Zimbabwe (up 70.3%), and the largest decrease in Chile (down 88.8%).
