What the numbers show

Proportion of students at the end of lower secondary education achieving at least a minimum proficiency level in mathematics, very poor socioeconomic background, both sexes (%) is currently reported for 52 countries. The highest value is 89.9% in Japan; the lowest is 10.4% in Jordan.

The median across all reporting countries is 44.2%, and the mean is 38.9%.

The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 9.

Over the past decade 11 countries rose and 41 fell. The largest increase was in Oman (up 61.9%), and the largest decrease in Singapore (down 83.9%).
